well, it has been a very long time since ive updated this blog. sad to say, but this band is falling apart because of everyone being so busy with their stuffs...

maybe this whole band thing can resume when everyone is kinda free...

Wassup doods

It's been a damn long time lol. And true enough this place is kinda dead.
Everyone including myself is so goddamn busy, we have so little time for the band now.
Anyways, updating the blog... Beauty In Pain has been completed and done for quite some time now. But I did not have the time to upload it or anything to the net. But It has been already uploaded at our purevolume page together with Linkin Park "What I've Done cover".

Adding on to that, I've also uploaded some videos I've dug up. These videos are some of the good times. Classic old songs lol. Yea old memories. Pretty long ago. But decided to upload these hilarious moments. haha

After being on hiatus for some time, the boys are back in action!
first things first:

updates: Now, the band is heading for more jamming sessions and recording...
Unconfirmation of the new member, Leslee who will be the band's new singer.
( Don't worry, Li En's still going to be in the band, taking the position of a second guitaris and back up vocals) Will post more information when time to come..

After 8 hours of hard work, DJ Kozine has put up a song, featuring Li En, entitled "Agony". The song is now up for download/listen at either Niko's purevolume or Li En's solo purevolume page.

Please note that, this song is a collaboration between DJ Kozine and Li En, and its not an official song released by the band.

Further updates, O levels are round the corner, band members are studying hard and preparing for their exams. After which, when the exams are over, we will be back with more new stuff and materials.

Surprisingly, Kenneth found 2 pictures of us during the School Of Rock Audition just recently. Although it did not appear in the Straits Times newspapers, it somehow ended up in the musicmovement website:

Secondly, We will not be performing on the up coming Teacher's Day, as the members are all too tight down with work and each having a tight schedule. So we will give this performance a miss.

Third, Eternal Coma will be working and doing an album after the O levels, and it should release anytime end of this year or early next year. Expect more new songs and more diversity. The album will be properly manufactured with CD covers and lyrics booklets.

Some updates on Eternal Coma.

1. For those who are wondering about the School Of Rock audition, we apoplogise for not updating you guys on what happened. Giving a brief description, we went in and played The Truth Within for 3 minutes after which, the judges gave us comments on the song. The comments were more towards the negative side but they didn't give any negative comments. The more prominent comments are:

- The bassist and the guitarist are not co-ordinating. (Why? Because Kenneth and I were jumping up and down at the wrong times.)

- A turntable surely added an extra ingredient to the song. (Great job Nikos!)

- It seems that you guys are trying to have a Linkin Park style in your song. Are you guys fans of them? (Our answer: Sort of...)

The week after the audition was the 'release week' of the results. Unfortunately, Eternal Coma wasn't selected to proceed into the semi-finals. Still, our purpose for entering the competition wasn't to get the top prize but actually to give us exposure to other bands around and to give us more courage to do performances. We thank those who gave us their support before the audition. =)

2. 3 newly uploaded songs are now available for listening at purevolume! Instead of having to listen to the same old thing again and again, we've uploaded these 3 songs for your ears:

- The Truth Within Live

- Intermission (Teaser)

As said in the tagboard, Intermission is the instrumental track that I'm currently working on. Though the total time for the teaser is 45 seconds, I must bring to your attention that the first 10 seconds are silence. This is because recording hasn't been done for it. What you'll hear will only be the bass leading on to something else, which is actually after 45 seconds, something which you won't be able to hear. Nonetheless, it's still something to look out for.

Getting away off topic, Eternal Coma is still undecisive of whether we should perform for Teachers' Day. Do give us your comments on whether we should and please state what song you would like to hear too. Thank You.

A departure of one of the members, and a newcomer

One of the Havok members will be leaving us when we join the School Of Rock competition. Though we are saddened with his departure, we also welcome a new member to the family. Kenneth Loke will be replacing Joel. Yes, it is sudden that Joel has to leave us, but he claimed that it was due to personal problems. I'm not able to go into detail as he didn't elaborate.

Anyway, Kenneth, the newcomer, who has replaced Joel will not be playing the guitar but the bass! Finally, Eternal Coma has a bass player! A round of appluase to the new addition to the family!

But even so, we still wish Joel all the best in his future endeavours and that he will be able to solve his problems before the O-levels Examination.

New band name, New blog and New single

Some updates, well, exams are over for most of us and with that, the band has changed the name to eternal coma. Together with the new name, a new blog skin has been done and a new single will be out any time soon of the band's new name. The song will be titled "The Truth Within". And the song represents the band name well. Keep checking back for the release of the single.

Li En sms-ed me today and told me that the busking for the busking bazaar will be held in the canteen. lmao. Canteen? Man, that place is FREAKIN' SMALL! Oh...NOT only that. We still have to lend our amps to other performing bands! What kind of shit is this? in the first place, if they wanted to perform, they should be well equipped with their guitars etc...and not borrow them from another band! WE ARE NOT YOUR FREAKIN SUPPLIERS!!!' Then we also got shifts. This means that the band will perform a song, then will switch to another item, like a dance item or another band item. What the shit. Mr Lawrence is only making things difficult for himself.

First of all, why not just let the bands perform their songs and get it over and done with instead of doing some rotation shit.

Secondly, if he wants to do rotation, how are the dancers suppose to dance with all the instruments on the stage? That's plain dumbness.

Thirdly, the canteen is damn small and the darn pillars will definitely block the views of people. Anyway, has anyone seen any power sockets in the canteen? without them, how are we suppose to play?

Fourthly, if we perform in the parade square, everyone will get a chance to watch cos' the bazaar is held around the parade square. Supposedly la, because i don't know what other "brilliant" ideas Mr Lawrence have.

Anyway the green light for hair colour has been given. Then Joel again, ham-ster don't want to colour his hair on that day. Tell him move a bit more (just A BIT more only), he say "see first la"... -.-"

BUT! We'd probably negotiate with him to finalise the plan for the buskers. Hopefully this time, he'd say something proper...

Busking Bazaar playlist

After so long, Havok finally updates this blog. Anyway just to inform everyone about our playlist for the Busking Bazaar.

Busking Bazaar playlist:

Note:

1. The song list may change in due time.
2. Also, Degrade, Revisited may not sound the same. Well at least not for the intro.
3. Pushing Me Away has been edited at the end so that the song may be finished. If not, we'd probably just keep playing until who knows when.
4. The green light for dying of hair has not been lit. If is does, we'd probably get some freaky colours. We'll see what the artist, Li En, has to say.

It has been notified that the performance will also be held in the parade square! What kind of crap is this? Playing under the hot sun in the middle (sort of) the parade square. But a stage we'll be set up though. The problem is, ever since the PA system cocked up last year, the volume of the microphones might not be as loud as it used to be. Furthermore, the amps will be dwarfed in the parade square and the volumes might not be very loud. We're trying to ask the teacher-in-charge to loan amps, like those in rock concerts. Well at least it'd probably be loud enough in the noisy parade square. What the heck am I talking about? I don't seem to make any sense...

The "auditions" went rather well today. At first, Mr Koz(Nikos) told us that Mr Lawrence Che said that everyone who signed up for the busking performance will make it through the auditions. So in the first place, why have auditions? Then he changed the story - The auditions are to be held so that the judges can decide on who to eliminate and who not to.

Anyway, the auditions started with a Malay guy singing "This Love" by Maroon 5. The music was so loud that it covered his voice. So he sounded as if he was singing it perfectly. Then Benjamin came and sang "Qing Tian". All I know is that it's this chinese song, and that the lyrics are alien noises to my ears. Then a band performed "The Reason" by Hoobastank. Oh man, they were messy. But at least still better than last year's talent-time. Li En was saying something like 5 bands were playing this song last year. Come to think of it, I'm quite sick of that song. Then Kenny's band went to perform "Dammit" by Blink 182. Personally, I don't really like that band. Their songs are almost all the same. Weidi! Next time get your guitar! I can't possibly always lend you mine.

Then came Havok's turn! Despite the fact that Li En had a bad throat (he's always having a bad throat), the performance turned out quite well! We started by playing "Degrade, Revisited", and Joel. Oh man. He was indirectly making a fool of me. Why? Because I was shaking my head like a mad man and moving around like no one's business. Then he just stoned at his position. Literally stoned. Then the amplifier was giving problems; my plucking was all messy. "Points Of Authority" was played after that. Somehow it wasn't as good as we had expected. Maybe the expectations were too high. Oh well.

Then there were these hip hop dance groups and the judges were all over them. I tell you, they're freaking bias people! Especially Mr Faizal. He's damn supportive of the Malays! Not to be discriminative or anything, but it's true. He supports them like no one's business! And he kept giving them so many freaking comments! As a judge, he shouldn't be bias. What the heck. Anyway Havok did get through the auditions and will be performing on the Speech Day cum Busking Bazaar on the 9th of April, which is a Saturday. All are welcomed!

Hi! Just to inform you guys that there is an instrumental track called "Sore Eye". Lien actually reversed an upcoming song and it became somewhat like a hard rock piece. When the song is out, you'll hear one part that is almost exactly the same as "Sore Eye". But it's only one part of the song and the only part. It's funny and nice at the same time 'cos it doesnt sound right but also sounds right at the same time. What the heck am I saying? Argh...

Anyway just click on the link "purevolume" and listen to the song "Sore Eye". The starting sounds like the intro of "Somewhere I Belong", by Linkin Park, though. Happy listening. =)

Tsunami disaster

Ok. As many of you know, there was a tsunami disaster that happened a day after christmas, on the 26th of December 2004. Therefore, Lien and I decided to compose a song in dedication to the victims and the disaster. The song isn't ready yet but with enough luck, it should be completed by the end of January 2005 along with the Secret Track and Degrade, Revisited.

The delay is due to overwhelming school hours because of some idiot's idea of having a five-day work week. Personally, I think it sucks!!BIG TIME!! Furthermore, it's Os this year (for Havok) and most, if not all of us, might be put on curfew by our parents as they would want us to "study".

Well anyway, do expect some stop in productivity for a while but Havok will try their best to get back to recording. Happy New Year and all the best to all!! =)

new about website and album

Okie... regrading the last post about the release of the new album and songs.. We would like to apologise for the delay, due to some time constraint and work to be done. We are currently still doing up the album and good news the music for new Degrade is done waiting for the vocals to be done. The other 2 songs are State OF Mind and SecreT Track half way through as well. Estimated time release with the album together with the website is about the end of this year or early next year. Once again, we apologise and really appreciates the wait for the new album and website.

rite, regrading to wad TJ said in his last post. there are some changes. Ok heres the deal. We are now doing up our EP album, erm to be out in mid dec with the 4 songs combo.

And ar, the revisited versions of degrade and no sun will be released on 3rd dec. You can get a glimpse of them at www.purevolume.com/havoksg on 3rd Dec. they are straight from the EP album. the album version to be exact. And ar, regrading the secret track, it might not be released on 3rd, however, the other song" State Of Mind" together with the secret track will be out later in mid dec as a total of the 4 songs releasing.

So, check out for the album versions of Degrade and No Sun on 3rd of Dec, off the hook. And mid dec for the release of the EP album.

And ar, together with the release of the EP album, an official Havok website will be out at the same time which I'm currently working on :)

Degrade and Secret Track

Ok, here's what's happening right now. The secret track's music is almost completed and all we have to do is to record the vocals. =) Soon you'd be able to hear it. As Li En mentioned, we'd be re-recording the vocals for Degrade and No Sun. What I was thinking, is that instead of re-recording Degrade all over, we could have another Degrade entitled Degrade, Revisited. So there will be 2 kinds of Degrades. 1 is the older version and the revisited edition would be the one with re-recorded vocals and some additional lyrics to it. Personally I think this would be better because we can hear 2 different kinds of Degrade. As for No Sun, Li En would just be re-recording some minor parts so it won't really affect the outcome of the present No Sun. Anyway, the secret track is expected to be released on Friday, the 3rd of December. So keep your ears peeled and we'll get back as soon as possible.

Secret Song and Someone's Birthday

Hi people! I'm finally able to write something..haha..Anyway, just to inform everyone, the secret song is half-way done! All we have to do is record the vocals and some additional sounds. Anyway, yesterday was someone's birthday! And that person is Cheryl. She's the one in charge of the music here but somehow or rather, I can't hear anything. So it's either my com can't play the music, or she hasn't had the music uploaded. But I'm sure there'll be music soon. Anyway let's sing her a birthday song. Happy Birthday to You! Havok's Performance

I would like to share a few thoughts about Havok's performance on Thursday, 28th Oct 2004

1. First of all, Havok apologises for the bad performance on Thursday. There were a couple of reasons for the disastrous performance. On Tuesday, the 26th of Oct, we received a message that Havok could perform for the Post-Exam Activity on the upcoming Thursday. On the late notice, Havok immediately started practising on both Tuesday and Wednesday night. We decided to play Numb instead of The Reason but i shall not go into detail about it. On Tuesday night, only half the band was present as Daniel and Nikos had something on. However, they did come on Wednesday night to practice. We practiced at Joel's home until almost 10. So it was very rush and very last minute. We didn't have much time to practice and make perfect our songs.

2. Li En, our lead singer, started to feel unwell since Wednesday night. He still turned up in school and looked as if he's really sick but still, he wanted to perform. Yes, he was out of tune for Numb but please do understand his situation. I'm sure if you were sick, you wouldn't want to perform. But Li En here had a great heart. He knew that if he didn't perform, many people will be disappointed. Numb's pitch also was quite high and it was quite difficult for Li En to reach the notes but still, we practiced the song no matter what.

3. During the performance, many things went wrong. The microphone wasn't working well, Joel's paddle wasn't responding and my amp had the static sound, which I myself am not sure of the cause. The AVA team claimed that the microphone volumes were at maximum but during the performance, many people couldn't hear the singing/rapping. Also, the cause is still unknown. Joel's paddle was working fine but suddenly couldn't seem to work.

4. Lastly, Havok wishes all a happy holidays and to stay out of trouble. For those who didn't do well for their End-Of-Year Examinations, do take this time to go through our textbooks and to revise what you have learnt the past year to make full use of your time. Of course it's not every day study. You can play, but do moderate your playing. Do exercise also to keep fit and have your meals regularly. Do not sleep too late in the night as it is not good for health.

Once again, Havok deeply regrets showing you guys a bad performance on Thursday but do be assured that we will try our best not to make this happen again. We thank you for your never-ending support. We look forward to composing 2 new songs during the 2 month break and possibly, one of them might be an instrumental track. Do check the blog every now and then to update yourself on Havok's progress. Have a nice holiday!!

OK,... right, erm, some bad news, havok din get to perform during post exam activities because of unexcepted permission grant by teacher. Sorry to disappoint u guys out there... it was unexpected..

Anyway, school is coming to an end, and we are getting ourselves ready for more songs production. Written more stuffs and coming up with more guitar riffs and beats. The next song expected to be out in late november. We hope to come up with aleast 2 during the 2 months holiday and maybe something special for u guys!..

Ok, just to say something. The new version of No Sun is released at Havoksg (purevolume). You could download the song from there and also would be able to download Degrade. Anyway, exams are over and Havok wishes everyone to have good results. For those who are unsatisfied with their results, don't be disheartened, for you can always try again. But of course, don't make the same mistakes you did and you have to work hard to get your desired grade.

haha, hello all, anyway, erm, this coming friday, the second song, no sun will be out!!! and the redo of Degrade. 2 songs out on the 15 october!!. And ar, after tat, we would be rather occupied, rehearsing n practising for the performance during the post exam activities, which day, im not sure but it should be during next week. Once no sun is out, pls check back here for lyrics n we will keep u update on the performance setlist most probably this coming sat. Cant wait for the perfomance!!!

Hello people!! writing here for the first time.. haha.. well just to say a few stuff

1. I've come up with a nice new chord.. actually 2 chords.. one with a sort of solo.. haha.. we'll see how it goes as time passes.. see whether it'll be able to fit into anything or not.. depends.. or maybe those chords can be used for an instrumental track.. it's still being decided so nothing is certain yet.

2. Exams are going to finish!! here's wishing those lower sec people - Happy After Exam Period!! Stay cool.. but don't go out finding trouble.. haha.. well anyway.. 2 more days to go.. and I can't wait.. after that.. Havok's music will resume production and we'll be recording No Sun.. which, estimated would be ready by 15th of October.

3. This is to hks_wiseone ( the "wise" one) and Alex Ho ( the opera singer) - If you DO NOT have anything constructive to say, please to not come here to spam and waste space!! I've said this in a nice and pleasant tone. If you do not follow this simple instruction, I will not hesitate to let loose strings of profanities at you!!

Hmmm,..... Yo, Wassup guys!! This blog is shared among the five of us in the band. Erm, quite new to this anyways. We dont really wanted it to be an online diary or some sort. Actually this is meant for our weekly journal. Either the five of us will take turns to write, as time goes, we will get used to this hopefully. Well, as far as the band has started, we did our first rock ballad song, Degrade and performed it a couple of times in school, think it went well... and the second song we are currently doing it, will be delayed and most probably till end of the exams, and by schedule it should be out on the Friday 15 Oct. Its 75% done already and its looking great. Hhaha, looks like u guys have to wait a little longer for this one, bt i ensure u it will be worth waiting. Some good news for u all, We will be performing after the exams during the post exams activity and we are really excited and looking forward to it. We will be playing more songs, 2 of our own, which is Degrade and the second one, No Sun and 2 others which one had already been confirmed to be hoobastank, the reason, the third one, has not been decided yet, bt it will be a linkin park song... haha, yeah, cant wait man,. please check back for more information regarding the second song release and the performance.
